Sermons”, from a linguistic point of view, are 'words delivered from the pulpit'. As for the words "khitbah" which is the same as the word "sermon" (seen from Arabic) means 'proposing women for marriage'. "Sermon" is derived from Arabic which is a word formed from "mukhathabah" which has the meaning of 'talk'. There is also a word that comes from the word "al-khatbu" which means 'big matters to be discussed', because Arabs do not preach except during big matters.
Meanwhile, Eid al-Adha is the feast of sacrifice that we commemorate every year and cannot be separated from the story of Prophet Ibrahim as recorded in Surah ash-Shaffat verses 99-111. Although, the practice of sacrifice has actually been carried out by the sons of the Prophet Adam, namely Qabil and Abel. It is said that the sacrifice that was accepted was the sacrifice of Abel, not Cain. It was not flesh or blood that God received but the sincerity and piety of the sacrificer.
